I live on a small homestead farm in New York’s Hudson Valley with a vegetable farmer spouse, a pair of sweet young sheep, two ginger cats, and a small flock of chickens. Before I became a freelance writer and editor, I managed a rock climbing instruction school, taught preschool, and was a self-employed chair seat weaver.
I’ve published hundreds of articles, essays, book reviews and short stories in newspapers, magazines, anthologies, and the web. I’ve also written screenplays and novel-length fiction for both adults and children, won second place in a national Pen Women essay contest, first place in two major children’s writing fiction contests, and quarterfinalist awards in several screenplay contests. I’ve been a rural life columnist at a small regional newspaper for 28 years.
